We've been talking about a new Tool record all year. We got excited when a posting on the official website hinted that perhaps the band was almost done recording a new album. Then there were injuries and frontman Maynard Kennan saying "nope, no album in 2013" but we still held out hope, until Danny Cary confirmed no new music until 2014. Today, frontman Maynard James Keenan checks in with some confirmation of the Tool record.
Yeah, I don't get the picture either. What does matter though is what Keenan captions his Instagram picture (which was his 666th) photo:
For my 666th IG photo, I'd just like to say… Music is happening on ALL fronts. Always. #lightenupfrancis#shitupandletmework #tool2014 @aperfectcircle @tool @puscifer
So… #Tool2014? I think we can all safely assume that means what we think it means. Recently Keenan even said that he's got his hands on some demos and just needs to write vocals in some capacity for them.
Also, new A Perfect Circle will be amazing! The band hasn't done jack since their eMOTIVe covers album in 2004… which is longer than Tool's break. So to get both in 2014 would be quite a treat.
