Maynard Keenan Offers An Update On The New TOOL Album

To quickly recap, earlier this year we got excited when a posting on the official TOOL website hinted that perhaps the band was almost done recording a new album. Then there were injuries and frontman Maynard Kennan saying "nope, no album in 2013" but we still held out hope, until Danny Cary confirmed no new music until 2014. Ok, we can handle 2014.

In a new interview this week, Tool singer Maynard James Keenan made it pretty clear that new Tool is on it's way to being written and recording in apparently a pretty decent capacity.

In an interview with The WTF Podcast, Maynard said the following about Tool being in the studio and his recording vocals for the upcoming record:

“I’m gonna stop by the rehearsal space today, in theory, having beaten them up going 'please give me music, please give me music, please give me music, please give me music, please give me music'. In theory they have a CD for me today, to listen to some jams, so we can get this thing going.”

In other news, Tool have recently spoken to Necrophagist on how to write an album and will be trying that model out. Seriously though, Keenan certainly makes it sound like there's some demos or full-on recordings of new Tool jams out there, which gives us all a little hope given the fact that there's been so much jerking around up to this point.

In Keenan's defense, he did call the Tool songs "jams" in the linked article there… so I guess it's semantics now? Regardless, the band obviously want this to happen given they've recorded some stuff, and so does he for the same reason. I'm excited in the most pessimistic possible.
