MARILYN MANSON & TRENT REZNOR On Good Terms Again, Possible Collaboration On The Horizon

"Even if it pisses me off that music's not dangerous anymore, it reminds me of how great you were and I was and that era"

"Even if it pisses me off that music's not dangerous anymore, it reminds me of how great you were and I was and that era"

In 1994, Marilyn Manson had his Portrait of an American Family produced by Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor, and released on his Nothing Records label. Manson also released Antichrist Superstar via Nothing Records, which would go on to sell 7 million copies. Nothing Records dissolved, and as of 2015 the duo absolutely hated each other.

Now Manson tells Beats 1 they're good, and it's all thanks to the recent HBO series The Defiant Ones, which details the relationship between Dr. Dre and Interscope Records co-founder Jimmy Iovine. It's also worth noting that Reznor and Iovine are friends, which is why the show was a driving catalyst for the conversation.

"I liked The Defiant Ones because it also made me think about Trent and made me reach out to him because he’s the one who actually sent me an e-mail and we had sort of mended ways after a long time. He emailed me and said, 'So, I’m just passing this along from Jimmy [Iovine], so I can say I did it.' He goes, something along the lines of, ‘Even if it pisses me off that music’s not dangerous anymore, it reminds me of how great you were and I was and that era."

Speaking on if the duo will collaborate on anything, Manson doesn't rule it out.

"Yeah, absolutely, I mean we’re playing a show with them, and uhh…It’s two nights in a row, and we’ve been speaking about things,” Manson says. “I don’t know what will happen. I would love to…I mean he taught me how to do a lot of things…he taught me a lot of what I know about music, so…"

This has gone clearly far better than Manson and Justin Bieber's relationship lately, though who knows – maybe it's all just PR for Manson's coming Heaven Upside Down album.

Manson also talked about Trent in his interview with Howard Stern.
