Joey Jordison has been very open in the last week about his battle with transverse myelitis, a form of multiple sclerosis, which affects his nervous system and prevented him from drumming. He first revealed his ailment at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards while accepting the "Golden God" award. He later revealed that during his last days in Slipknot, he literally had to be carried to the stage.
Metal Hammer just posted more excerpts from their chat with Jordison and Jordison said he would love to meet with his former bandmates about a potential reunion:
“Honestly, I’m not trying to be dramatic, but if that was brought up, what I’d want to do would be to get together. I’d want to see them, just hug it out and feel that energy that we had when we were fucking young and hungry and all that shit. They’re my brothers. We’d hug and talk and do shit like we used to do. We used to sit up all night along planning this shit and what we wanted to do. So that’s how I’d wanna do it. It’d have to be in person. If it happened, that would be fucking awesome, but only time will tell.”
He also said he listened to the new Slipknot album, .5 The Gray Chapter and thinks it's "great" and said it's important to carry on for the fans.
As for a potential reunion, it seems like the ball is in Slipknot's court. Jordison has said he never quit the band, he was pushed out, but I can't see them going back on what they thought before. Weinberg seems pretty set in his role and there have been some concerns with Jordison's drumming as of late. It would just be an awkward situation to deal with.
For now, Joey is focusing on his two current bands, Vimic and Sinsaenum.
