INCANTATION Guitarist Quits With A Strange Parting Message

Oh come on, don't leave us Incantation!

Oh come on, don't leave us Incantation!

Incantation have had an interesting run up to this point. Their career from 1990 to 2006 was pretty active with regular releases and everything, but after 2006 things got a little spotty. They released the Blasphemous Cremation EP in 2008, the Vanquish In Vengeance LP in 2012 and that's pretty much it aside from a few splits. Guitarist Alex Bouks, or former guitarist, joined in 2007 and announced his resignation from the band on Wednesday Mar. 12. So with Bouks only really playing on one release before splitting and original/long time members guitarist and vocalist John McEntee and drummer Kyle Severn still in, what's up with this message on the band's site?

"With a heavy heart we announce the resignation of our long time metal brother Alex Bouks. Over the last few years there have been some rough waters that we have all been navigating. A hiatus is more desired, thinking this is the best thing to do to save the magic that we have all worked together on.

With respect we wish only the best to Alex and his work outside the band. He is truly an amazing musician and we are happy to have worked with him."

Hiatus? But then the very next day, Thursday, Mar. 13, the band posted again on the site.

"We are proud to announce that our former guitar player, Sonny Lombarozzi, will be filling in on guitar during the touring cycle of our new album.

We have been friends with Sonny for quite some time and he has also played with Incantation as far back as the early 2000's during the multiple Blasphemy tours.

We really feel he understands the style of the band and that he will execute the songs in a very honorable way. It's great to welcome back an old friend into the folds!

So look out for the new, yet untitled, album coming this May along with a world tour soon to follow!"

So they went from talking about dropping off on a hiatus to talking about a new record this May? Well, today's Friday, which means they'll be taking to their website to announce they're morphing into demons and eating children or something with the trend these announcements have been following. I guess for right now get stoked on a new record? Maybe?
