Corey Taylor Doesn't Like Talking About Jim Root Leaving STONE SOUR

"I don’t want to talk about it, out of respect for him and who he is and what he was to this band."

"I don’t want to talk about it, out of respect for him and who he is and what he was to this band."

Back in 2014, Stone Sour and guitarist Jim Root parted ways. It was later revealed by Root that he was fired over the phone, and said that at least one guy in the band was too concerned about money. Root later called Stone Sour a "sinking ship," so it was pretty safe to assume that things were extremely not okay in the band's camp.

Now in a brand new interview with Metal Hammer, Stone Sour and Root's bandmate in Slipknot, Corey Taylor says that he doesn't really like to talk about it because he feels like it was ultimately the best thing for Root.

"Obviously being on the road with Jim in Slipknot was tight sometimes, but I feel like we were able to put a lot of that aside because I think in a way he realized that he wasn’t happy – maybe not just with Stone Sour but in general.

"I feel like that’s helped him, which is one of the reasons why I don’t want to talk about it, out of respect for him and who he is and what he was to this band. I feel like he’s on his own journey that he needs to figure out, and I don’t want to be the one to talk about it. It’s not fair for him and it’s not fair for me."

It seems like we'll never know exactly what happened with Jim Root and Stone Sour, but it also doesn't seem like it's our business either.
