Jim Root is not going down swinging. After the guitarist was dismissed from Stone Sour, he was none too pleased. He even revealed that they didn't have the courtesy of doing it in person, but rather over the phone.
Now Root is in full-on drama mode. In the new cover story of Guitar World, Root calls out the band for trying to exist soley to be a radio rock band:
"Some of the guys in Stone Sour, I think they just want to be a radio band and write strictly for radio and try to be more of a poppy rock band. And that's not really what I'm into. There's at least one guy in the band that's only concemed about money. I really have no desire to associate with people like that anymore."
This just doesn't seem like the best business decision. For one, Root is currently in a band with Stone Sour vocalist Corey Taylor. I'm sure he's not too fond of the bashing. And another, it just seems like a giant slap in the face to people who actually like Stone Sour.
Do you think Root was out of line? Also who is this "one" member of the band? I'm assuming it wouldn't be Corey Taylor, right? Because that would be awkward. Drummer Roy Mayorga and Johnny Chow are just a hired guns, so it can't be them, which leaves only Josh Rand.
