Last week Megadeth underwent an interesting lineup change with the departure of drummer Shawn Drover and guitarist Chris Broderick. Both the announcements seemed to have come out of nowhere and of course fans were concerned about the state of the band considering they didn't immediately say anything.
Fortunately, in a conversation with Megadeth's fan club, the Megadeth Cyber Army, bassist Dave Ellefson said the band will not be splitting up despite missing 50-percent of it.
"As you can probably tell by me being here today, we are not disbanding. As of right now, we are looking at all the options, of which there are many. We'll certainly continue working on the new songs for the next record, Hopefully that brings everyone up to speed on things as of today. Thank you for all of your kind words, concerns and support to us."
I wonder if the options include ex-Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo drumming? We know Lombardo is down for it. As for guitarists, I'm not sure who can step in… but let's be real here for a second. Frontman Dave Mustaine and Ellefson are who they are and finding another guitarist for the legendary thrash group isn't exactly going to be difficult.
