Black Crown Initiate went pretty quiet after the release and shows surrounding their 2016 album Selves We Cannot Forgive. The last we heard from the band was that they were working on new music in the studio and recently played their first show in two years. Now they've announced a bit of a lineup change.
While it's not exactly clear what happened, guitarist Wes Hauch (Alluvial, Glass Casket) and drummer Jesse Beahler (Nightfire, ex-Jungle Rot) have exited the band. They've been replaced by guitarist Ethan McKenna and drummer Samuel Santiago (ex-Gorod, ex-Melechesh). Here's the kinda-statement regarding the change.
Big thanks to @beyondcreationofficial @firstfragmentqc @broughtbypain the beautiful city of Montréal and its citizens for the most amazing night! And a special thanks to those who have helped and supported us in our endeavors.
We would also like to take this opportunity to welcome @ethanmckennamusic and @s_a_m_s_a_n_t_i_a_g_o (who have both been killing it since day one) to the band! Until next time… ??

Given the lack of information regarding the lineup change, it's not yet clear if Hauch and Beahler played on the new material, or if they were already gone by the time Black Crown Initiate hit the studio.
