Avenged Sevenfold's song "The Stage" is up for a Grammy this year, though the band won't be there regardless of if they think they'll win or lose. According to Avenged Sevenfold's Twitter, the band is "honored" but "unfortunately, they have taken 'Best Rock Song' off the telecast this year so we won't be attending. Maybe next time." The band's song is up against Metallica's "Atlas, Rise!," K. Flay's "Blood In The Cut," Nothing More's "Go To War," and Foo Fighter's "Run."
The band added that they wish everyone else good luck, and that they appreciate their fans' continuing support. This shouldn't be a shock though, considering vocalist M. Shadows recently spoke out against the Grammys not televising the metal portion, saying "if you're getting the 'metal' award, they don't actually televise it, so no one sees it — it doesn't move the needle at all. And I think that's what the Grammys have to get that right."
Honored. Unfortunately they have taken "Best Rock Song" off the telecast this year so we won't be attending. Maybe next time. https://t.co/GIotEyLCuK
