Your First Official Taste Of New Music From BARONESS

I was incredibly excited when the press advance of Baroness's new double album, Yellow & Green arrived in my inbox last week. The problem? I haven't been able to get through the whole thing in one sitting. Clocking in at 85 minutes, that's a lot of time to commit to an album. I've listened to the first half, Yellow multiple times, but only made it through a few tracks on Green before having to move on to do something else. I will say this though: what I've heard, I like a lot. Baroness is no longer a metal band, they are a rock band and they write really catchy, solid rock songs. Today, Relapse posted the first single from the double-album, the second track on the album, and one of my favorites, "Take My Bones Away." Let's take a listen…

Really good, right? It still has that classic Baroness riffage, but also something new. I'm really impressed at how much John Baizley has improved as a vocalist. His range is really impressive on this album. Not to say there are growls or anything, it's all clean vocals… but just the places he chooses to go with the vocals are surprising and work very well. What do you think of the track?

Yellow & Green is out July 17th, 2012. Pre-orders are now available on Amazon.com.
