Everybody is still processing the sudden death of Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington. I've personally been listening to a lot of old Linkin Park since I heard the news. The band had a profound affect on me when they first surfaced, and I truly feel they are one of the early influences of many djent bands today. They're obviously not as big an influence on the genre as Meshuggah, but I feel anytime you hear a djent band do a ballad or have a soft part, you can clearly hear the Linkin Park influence.
As somebody who hasn't closely followed Linkin Park in recent years, other than when having to write about them for the news cycle, watching these clips from their final performance with Chester Bennington this past July 6th, at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham, England was both cathartic and chilling.
