Xibalba had me intrigued with their 2012 release Hasta la Muerte because it was such a different take on hardcore. It sounded like you were in the room right there with the band as they relentlessly pounded your face in with everything they could find. That being said, their new song 'Death Threat" makes that album look like smiling puppies. If you're looking for the insta-heavies, skip to about 1:40 and then let it go until about 3:10. There's blasting, there's d-beats, there's a guttural that I have never heard the band use before and there's just a whole lot of audio-related violence when it's all said and done.
“Death Threat” is off Xibalba’s new split 12″ with Suburban Scum out May 13 via Closed Casket Activities.
