The Best Music In The Underground That You May Have Missed in May

Posted by on May 31, 2019 at 1:28 pm

It's no secret that we love taste making underground music at Metal Injection, and want to give deserving bands that fly under the radar of commercial success a proper spotlight.

That's why I'm making it easier than ever to get new music on your radar by rounding up a collection of bands that deserve your ear, many of them featured on the site over the past month. Give them a spin and try something new, you never know when you'll find your new favorite band!

Krzysztof Drabikowski

You may know Drabikowski as the founder and music writer behind the band Batushka, who unfortunately fell into a recent legal battle over the name and rights of the band. Despite the troubles that continue, he just released his new album to the world and it absolutely crushes! The album, Панихида, might be harder to pronounce than the man's name, but it's already a favorite of the year for me.

Johnny Booth

If you ever wondered what pure bloody rage sounds like, make sure you start with this track from Johnny Booth. These New York lads recently released their album, Firsthand Accounts, and I highly recommend checking out the whole thing when you can.

The White Swan

The White Swan features Kittie drummer, Mercedes Lander, up front and center and takes on an entire new sludgy direction you may not expect. A total groove and melody machine worth checking out.

Zealot R.I.P.

Zealot R.I.P. is an all star brainchild from members of Frodus, Darkest Hour, and Pig Destroyer in a chaotic mix of metallic punk you won't want to put down. Give it a spin, while you spin around your office chair. Shit is fun!

Harsh Realm

If you're into brutally disgusting 90's style death metal with a few tricks, you owe it to yourself to get on this one. You can check out our full album stream right here.

Spylacopa

Candiria's John Lamacchia is a chameleon of the arts, and his latest album from the constantly evolving project, Spylacopa, is evidence of this. If you're into dark ambiance, ala Radiohead, then this might be the thing for you!

What solid underground music did you listen to this month?
