Shred Punk Masters STRUNG OUT Drop Killer New Song "Daggers"
Strung Out has been kicking ass ever since their debut 1994 record Another Day In Paradise, and they clearly don't plan on stopping anytime soon. The band has consistently ridden the line between being an outright punk band and super-technical, wrist-hurting shred through the years, and has made a unique name for themselves in doing so. Strung Out's new song "Daggers" is a little more of the former, though listen close and you're going to hear some bits that fall squarely in the latter. It also helps that Strung Out is really good at writing really catchy songs.
Here's what vocalist Jason Cruz had to say about the new album.
This opportunity I’ve been given, and everything I’ve been doing, I don’t have any say in it. I don’t have a choice. I have things inside of me that swell up when I go through this, but it’s what people put into what they hear and what they then take out of it, that’s the magic. I need to do this, but if it’s not making a connection, I have no right to be here. My favorite part about America is the pain of the poor people and what they create out of it – the culture that the poorest people of this country have created. From that came blues, jazz, rock’n’roll, and, to me, coming from nothing and creating something is everything to me.
Songs Of Armor And Devotion is out August 9. The record was produced by Cameron Webb (Motorhead, Megadeth, NOFX).
