Dead Cross, the band that consists of ex-Slayer & Suicidal Tendencies's Dave Lombardo on drums, Faith No More vocalist Mike Patton, Retox guitarist Mike Crain, and The Locust bassist Justin Pearson, ash finally announced that it's self-titled album will be out via Patton's label Ipecac Recordings on August 4, and we couldn't be more stoked! The album will be 28 minutes long, and will include both a cover of Bauhaus's track "Bela Lugosi’s Dead," and the song "Grave Slave" which you can check out below.
Patton tells Rolling Stone that the album is traditional hardcore, and that at 50 years old, he's just doing it because he loves the music and it's fun.
"To me, it is a traditional hardcore record. It is very pointed, direct and visceral. Like, I wasn't going to play keyboards, add samples or any kind of orchestration. It was like, 'Yo, just go for it.' In some ways, it reminded me of stuff that we had collectively all grown up with and loved when we were like teenagers – bands like the Accüsed, Deep Wound or Siege, stuff that was just brutal, uncompromising and right to the point. I was listening to all those bands again before this came to be, so it was already back infused in my blood. And now I got a chance to do a pencil-in-your-eye record."
So what do you think? Is Dead Cross gonna be awesome or what?
