Nergal Offers First Taste of New Country/Blues Album, And It Sounds Nothing Like BEHEMOTH

Doom country? Is that a thing?

Doom country? Is that a thing?

Behemoth's Nergal said he was going to country-type of album due out in 2016, which isn't exactly a surprise – we actually heard a little of it last year, though sans vocals. Now we get to hear some of it with vocals and it's essentially nothing like what I thought it was going to be.

This reminds me of stuff like King Dude and Johnny Cash more than anything, and who knew Nergal had such a low, haunting voice? I mean, the guy's done a little clean-ish vocal work on Behemoth material in the past, but I've always just assumed he was either doing a voice for those parts or had some effects dumped onto the track.

Now you can say you're looking forward to a country rock album in 2016! Maybe Nergal and ex-Morbid Angel frontman David Vincent will do something together? Dude's rockin' country like nobody's business right now.
