Monday Wake Up Call

Tune In, Drop Out, and Turn Up the MGLA!

Groza by MGLA makes me feel all warm and fuzzy, like sitting in front of a fire place, inside a cabin on a cold snowy night somewhere in the mountains. Which is basically how I described Ashes Against the Grain by Agalloch a few years ago. So basically if you like Agalloch, snow, mountains, fire, and air then you'll love this band.

Really though, this is a great band that contains all the elements you'd want from an atmospheric black metal record. It's raw but clean, melodic but full of angst, harsh but emotional, atmospheric but precise, it's ridiculously hard to find an actual copy of the LP (only 500 made) and it comes from Poland. This record isn't new, in fact it came out a few years ago, but it's come to my attention that there are people out there who don't know what they're missing yet. So what are you waiting for? Set up your wake and bake, your breakfast cereal, and enjoy the journey on this fine Monday morning!
