Banger Films had run a series called Metal Evolution on Vh1 Classic where they went through the history of metal. If you really haven't seen it, you're missing out on some metal history.
The one episode that Vh1 was not interested in was about the subject of extreme metal. Shocker! So, after successfully crowdfunding the budget to create the episode themselves, Banger TV decided to put the entire thing up for free download along with a bunch of killer extras. Banger TV describes the series pretty succinctly.
"Hosted by Sam Dunn and based on Banger’s groundbreaking 'Heavy Metal Family Tree,' Extreme Metal features new interviews with Death Metal, Grindcore and Black Metal’s most influential sonic architects and a global journey from Tampa to the UK, Norway and France's Hellfest to investigate the history, myths and intricacies of this most innovative and transgressive subgenre."
Then tells you all about them extra goodies.
"Who doesn’t know about the infamous Gaahl interview from Headbanger’s Journey? Now you can have a Director’s Cut of what MetalSucks.net hails as 'the best interview ever in the history of metal interviews.' Own the extended version of Gaahl’s chat with Sam about his take on the essence of Black Metal, Satan and a few other interesting topics!
