April has seen a number of tours pass through the Triangle area of North Carolina. While the unfortunate ones who were excited to see Springsteen and Pearl Jam got their hearts broken by HB2, many metal bands stuck by their North Carolina dates. There have been numerous acts of all sizes that have taken the stage, fully intent on decimating concert-goers. Throughout the month, bands like Pyrrhon, Magrudergrind, Yautja, Napalm Death and The Black Dahlia Murder have all blown fans away with physically intense sets that have left an impression on myself and those who have also attended. Chapel Hill's Lesser Life was an opener for these shows on a couple of occasions and certainly did their fair share of decimation. They brought a brash and unforgiving set of Deathgrind that pummeled house speakers and eardrums alike. It is the kind of extreme metal that should be heard by all.
The quartet worked with Metal Sucks and Converse Rubber Tracks earlier this year to release a song called "Anticosmic Invocation". They also have two prior releases to their name in Go Hence Unto A Swift and Bitter Death and The Light Will Never Touch You Again. In 2016, Lesser Life is looking to build on their ruthless records with new music this coming summer. Their new offerings come in the forms of an EP entitled Bone Deep and Numbing due out in June as well as a split with fellow North Carolinian band, Trudge, soon after that.
Their releases can be found here, on their Bandcamp page. Contribute where you can, the releases are between zero to three dollars. Below you will find the cover work for their new EP as well as a music video with a minute segment of "Anticosmic Invocation". Stay tuned for more details on Lesser Life's upcoming music!
