Melodic death metal for days.

Undrask

Do you like melodic-death metal and heroic-sounding guitar solos in equal measure? Are you looking for something catchy but still crushing? Then you should check out the upcoming album from Greenboro, North Carolina's Undrask.

Many of the album's elements will be familiar to fans of bands like Amon Amarth and the more recent work of acts like Soilwork and Dark Tranquility. But the band gives the mixture a unique flavor with the addition of late-2000s pagan metal elements, and completes it with dazzling guitar virtuosity. And, most satisfyingly for this writer, you can even hear a faint echo of Windir in the album's more aggressive moments. There's a lot going on here, and it's all pretty great.

If that's not enough to get you interested, here's what the band had to say about it:

"The last few years have been rough, and we're all in need of an escape as life drags on and responsibilities punch us in the gut. It's time to punch back with a little magic and mayhem. We hope you'll join us and our heroes in battle and bang your head like the fate of the world depends on it!"

God Emperor will be available digitally and in CD or USB form this Friday. You can find pre-orders via the band's Bandcamp page.
