EXOTIC ANIMAL PETTING ZOO Is Already In My Top 10 of 2012

On this week's edition of The FiX, I briefly talk about one of my favorite records of 2012, Exotic Animal Petting Zoo's Tree of Tongues. Despite a name that may lead you to assume this is just another trying-too-hard-to-be-funny deathcore band complete with group-poop stage moves, I assure you there is nothing funny (or deathcore) about this band's music. I'd even go as far as calling them serious about their craft of excelled music making.

If you're a fan of erratic compositions that teeter between ambient modes of melodic post-hardcore, and dense spastic Mathcore moments, then you're already fucking up by not having Tree of Tongues in your collection. The music video for the track "Thorough. Modern." is equally entertaining as the record itself in the way it combines several unique visual treatments that creates a clip with high repeat value, something I can't say often these days. Likewise, the track is only 1 of my 10 favorite tunes the album has to offer, unlike today's standard which looks more like three favorite tracks on an album with eight tracks of filler.

So what are you waiting for? Check out a track from Tree of Tongues below, watch the latest episode of The FiX for their music video, and keep an eye out for an exclusive interview with the band later this year here on Metal Injection.
