Martin Lopez's (ex-Opeth, Soen) band Fifth to Infinity has had a rough 16 years. They formed in 1997, almost had a debut album in 2000 that was delayed until 2001 and eventually laid to rest, broke up, reformed in 2007, got some new members and are finally geared up to drop the record! Come check out some jams you might have been waiting a long time for!
Fifth to Infinity was initially formed after black metal group Vinterkrig broke up and consisted of guitarist vocalist Jonas Reslan, drummer Martin Lopez, and current Opeth bassist Martin Mendez. The trials and tribulations mentioned above happened, the band got back together in 2008, bassist David Lindh joined since Mendez is still in Opeth, and behold! Jams were produced. The album doesn't have a name or a label (as far as I can tell), but I'm digging the two songs they've posted. It sounds like, well… Opeth, but a lot shorter and to the point more than Opeth is. Good stuff! Here's to hoping there isn't another 16-year gap of nothingness and problems!
