ELUVEITIE Bring The Party To Jaxx (Video Footage Included)

Swiss folk metallers Eluveitie just finished up their North American tour with 3 Inches of Blood, Holy Grail, and System Divide.  Having been a fan since the release of Spirit, I was super pumped to finally see them live.  As any fan of theirs knows, they have a vast array of musical instruments that they blend so well with their heavy metal roots.  I wondered how this would turn out live and if they could pull it off, and sure enough, they pulled it off and then some!  I always find it hard for a band to meet my expectations if I have never seen them live and I am used to only their records; however, Eluveitie were able to raise the bar!

I was able to film a large portion of Eluveitie's live set and ended up with so much extra footage, I wanted to pay more homage to these folk metallers by compiling a bunch of their live shots and making my own music video version for their hit song "Inis Mona".  From beginning to end, Eluveitie performed a killer set full of energy and some really unique metal.  Below are their performances of "Primordial Breath", "Omnos", "Andro", and my compilation for "Inis Mona".

I think I filmed the entire set except for the one most notable piece (I apparently forgot to press 'record').  To fill you in, Eluveitie sing many of their lyrics in the extinct language of Gaulish.  Roughly 99.9% of the human population does not understand this language, so one would imagine it would be hard to have the crowd sing along.  With the help of their support bands, Eluveitie was able to have the crowd, none of which most likely speak Gaulish, sing along with them.  How did they do it you might ask?  Well, the clever bands on tour made huge cardboard signs written with the words of what the lyrics "sounded" like in English.  It was hilarious as the whole crowd sang along with Anna chanting lines like "Obama's in the Yard".
