To remember their fallen bassist Chi Cheng, the band have released an unheard track with Chi playing bass on it on the one year anniversary of Chi's passing.

One year ago on Mar. 13, Deftones bassist Chi Cheng passed away after being in a coma from a vicious car accident. To commemorate the bassist, the band took to Facebook to post a song off Cheng's last recorded album with the band, Eros, that was never released. It is interesting the band posted anything off the lost record considering they've said  recently that they weren't sure what they were going to do with the record (more on that) considering how sore they still are about Cheng's passing. Which makes a lot of sense. But I guess time heals all wounds and they wanted to do something special to remember Chi one year after he passed.

On the topic of the song, wow. This is really good and I'm really hoping Eros sees the light of day sometime soon. It's a little spacey, but in a good way that kept me coming back for more. Considering the band said this was one of their heavier albums, I'm led to assume "Smile" is one of the lighter songs.
