Alcest will be releasing its new album Kodama on September 30 via Prophecy Productions, and the record seems to be taking a turn back toward the band's blackgaze-drenched roots. Take, for example, the new track "Je Suis D'ailleurs." The track starts off slow and dreamy, and then around the 4:30 mark breaks into a much heavier and more somber mood. Though if you've been a follower of the band for more than just 2014's Shelter, this sort of tone really shouldn't be surprising.
