Game shows are part of what make broadcast television tick. In the UK, there is a show called University Challenge which has two teams of students from competing universities engaged in a game of trivia.
Metal Hammer notes on a recent episode, the team from Downing College in Cambridge were given three questions about the legendary British heavy metal band Iron Maiden for a possibility of 15 points (five per question) and they were able to score a total of zero points. The questions were:
- The five word title of which 1982 album appears in the book of revelations after the words here is wisdom let him who hath understanding count what?
- Four words that appear before Thy Kingdom Come in St Luke's gospel form the title of which track from Number Of The Beast concerning a condemned man?
- Which track from Number Of The Beast shares its title with a 1960s television series filmed largely in an Italian village in North Wales?
The answers are:
- The Number of the Beast
- “Hallowed Be Thy Name”
- “The Prisoner”
What the hell are these kids learning in Cambridge anyway? If you'd like to see the kids sweat, here's the video all cued up, thanks to MetalSucks:
