Eight-year old Emerson Liu Bancroft of Borehamwood unfortunately lost his Alhambra classical guitar on public transportation in London. And if you've ever lost anything on public transportation, then you know it's basically a goner. Except this time the guitar was found by Mamma Mia! star Mazz Murray, who posted a photo of it online and tagged Queen guitarist Brian May. Both Murray and May worked together on the Queen musical We Will Rock You, so it wasn't exactly a stretch.
"Someone (a child) has lost this," said Murray in her post. "I found this guitar outside Edgware Tube station. Some poor kid getting royally bollocked right now. Let's try reunite them."
May then posted a photo of the guitar on his Instagram, asking anyone trying to claim it what the contents of the case were.
"Did anyone out there lose an acoustic guitar – in a case like this – outside #edgware (sorry – not Edgware Road ) tube station ? What was in case as well as the guitar ? We'd like to reunite this with its owner … @mazzmurray #acousticguitar #lostguitar. Please share out there folks."
Lo and behold, Bancroft's family saw the post and he was reunited with the guitar. Better yet, this kid (and his parents) now has one hell of a party story to tell for the rest of his life!
"YES !!! I'm a little late posting this but … yes – we DID manage to reunite the lost guitar with its owner – a young man called Emerson – who one day will surprise us all !! Thanks Evening Standard for this write-up. Thanks to the redoubtable"
