Australia To Shut Down Highways For AC/DC Tribute Bands In 2020

To celebrate the life of vocalist Bon Scott.

February 19, 2020 marks the 40th anniversary of the death of AC/DC vocalist Bon Scott, and Perth, Australia is celebrating the man's short-lived career in a huge way.

Perth will be shutting down 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) of the Canning Highway between Canning Bridge and Fremantle so that slow-moving trailers housing AC/DC tribute bands can pass through uninterrupted. The bands will be playing on the slow-moving trailers, and acts like Amyl And The Sniffers, Steve ‘n’ Seagulls, Shonen Knife, and the WA Police Band have already been confirmed.

Event producer Pete Stone tells The Guardian he's pretty stoked about the event.

“There’s something really powerful in [the image of] reclaiming a highway for a day, and bringing it back to the people. Turning it into a 10km high street for one day, which links every community along the way? People warm to that idea.”

If anyone goes to this please, send pictures. This sounds awesome.
