Gimme Radio, the 24/7 metal programming outlet, announced a unique new special, airing tomorrow, January 23rd on underground metal from Iran.
Gimme collaborated with Pooyan Ahmadi, of Tehran one-man grind band Bloody Sadism Band on the special, which showcases music from his projects as well as other Persian artists like Bloody Sadism Band, Azooma, War Angel, Farshid Arabi and others.
Iran is currently in a state of disarry, with heavy U.S. sanction and protests over raised petrol prices, leading to restricted internet. Then, the unrest grew larger with the drone strike killing Qasem Solemani, and later the Iranian government admitted to accidentally shooting down a Ukrainian airliner. Putting together this show, with such barriers, was not easy.
The folks at Gimme told us "It was not without its challenges – lack of consistent internet access was as adverse as to be expected. Pooyan persevered through the desire for his music, and his experience, to be shared with a global community. The tight bonds of a heavy metal’s musical culture and community are on great display here."
