Sorry, That LEMMY & DAVID BOWIE Photo Is A Fake :(

Sorry to be a party-pooper, but that is Photoshopped!

In the last few weeks, we lost two huge rock icons, Motorhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister and David Bowie. Yesterday, as the tributes were pouring in for Bowie, people began comparing the two as a ying and a yang. One sticking to his guns throughout his entire career and another constantly shape-shifting and expanding boundaries, both of whom did it absolutely their way.

Music fans wanted to honor both musicians at once, and a photo began cropping up that showed the chameleon musician and the man who just had Jack & Coke renamed in his honor, and people were elated. One problem… this photo is a fake:

As cool as it would be for the two of these guys to meet backstage at a party, that photo of Lemmy in particular is from his Hawkwind days, where he was posing with his "French girlfriend" at the time, according to Getty Images:

If you still don't believe me, you can clearly see how it's photoshopped in the below animation:

Update: A fan in the comments posted the original Bowie photo as well…

As much as we love honoring these two musicians, we thought the truth was more important in this case. Sorry to be a party-pooper, but it doesn't seem like these two crossed paths outside of our personal music collections. Here instead is a tribute that we can fully get behind, designed by artist Matt Wilkins.
