Have you recently attended a concert where the performer was sick and the show wasn't so great? Hopefully it happened to you in Finland! The country's Consumer Disputes Board recently awarded Chuck Berry fans half their money back from a show in 2013 where Berry was feeling under the weather and didn't perform so well, Yle reports.
“Anyone seeking a ruling like this is always spurred by a subjective opinion,” [Board Chairman Pauli] Ståhlberg told Yle, “but that’s not enough to get a refund. What is significant is a generally agreed view that the concert was a failure, as it was in the Chuck Berry case.”
Ståhlberg also followed that statement up by saying that if a performer is drunk or high and that's the general expectation for that artist, or it just happens, then you're not entitled to your money back. Sometimes you just know a band is going to be drunk on stage and you're taking your chances! This is a pretty interesting movement from Finland, though we'll see how "objective" rulings work when it comes to future refunds.
