Last week, The History Channel announced that Metallica frontman James Hetfield would be narrating an upcoming series on The History Channel on bear hunting, aka big game hunting. This really upset some animal rights activists, and now they are causing a stir with a new petition to get Metallica banned from playing Glastonbury, a prestigious UK festival with roots in hippie culture.
Remove Metallica from Glastonbury Festival for their support of Bear Hunting. This page together [is] an appeal to the organizers of Glastonbury to remove Metallica from their lineup due to James Hetfield's support of Big Game Hunting.
So far, the Facebook page for the group has nearly 10,000 likes and a Google form has been established to sign a petition to get them removed.
The creator of the page says he has no problem with Metallica's music, he is just using this as a platform to raise awareness for the cruelty of big game hunting.
How do you feel about big game hunting? Should James be getting flack for narrating this show?
