In the middle of January we posted about Skeletonwitch offering a super limited edition pressing of their third record Forever Abomination, of which they would donate the proceeds to charity. Which they did with an amazingly huge check on Monday, Mar. 17.
Above you'll see guitarist Scott Hedrick and vocalist Chance Garnet presenting the $2,100 check to Athens Humane Society board members Karen McGuire and Jennifer Michaels. All in all the band raised $4,200 for the sales of the records and split the money before Athens Humane Society and the Columbus organization Pets Without Parents, which sounds painfully adorable. So right on Skeletonwitch! You give metal a good name in the media, though chances are this won't be covered by any major organization because it paints this type of music in a positive light… so there's that.
Also, what's up with bands and cute animals lately? Skeletonwitch giving a check for pets, Animals as Leaders hanging out with puppies… have we gone soft?!
