Nightwish has made it clear that a touring hiatus was in their future. Back in April 2023, the band stated that they would not tour on their upcoming album, saying "After the planned shows for June 2023 we will be 'hanging up our spurs' for an indeterminate time, as far as live concert performances go, and won't be touring the next album."
So how long is this hiatus gonna be? According to drummer Kai Hahto in an interview with Chaoszine, you shouldn't expect another Nightwish show for another two or three years. The hiatus came up when Hahto was asked about if he'll be doing more solo shows in the foreseeable future after the upcoming one.
"I have been thinking about [playing more solo shows], but let's play this upcoming show first and then see if there is demand for me to play more," said Hahto. "We will most likely be filming the show to check it out ourselves afterward to see how it went. If it [goes] well, I could play a couple more during this year. It would be nice, as the next Nightwish album comes out later this year, to play maybe a couple of new songs from that album live as well because, at the moment, it looks like there won't be any new Nightwish shows in the next two or three years."
Nightwish hasn't announced the follow-up to their 2020 record Human. :II: Nature. just yet, but it's coming! Hahto's upcoming solo show will take place in Helsinki, Finland on February 3 where he'll perform songs from his bands Nightwish, Wintersun, Swallow The Sun, and Auri.
