Police Arrest Former MR. BUNGLE Member For The Murder Of His Girlfriend

Theobald "Theo" Brooks Lengyel is facing a charge of first-degree murder.

Theobald "Theo" Brooks Lengyel, 54 years old, has been arrested in connection with the murder of his 61-year-old girlfriend, Alice “Alyx” Kamakaokalani Herrmann. According to KRCR, Herrmann's remains were found in a wooded area within Tilden Regional Park in Berkley, CA. The Daily Beast further reports that Lengyel has since been booked at the Santa Cruz County Jail and is facing a charge of first-degree murder.

According to a notification published by the El Cerrito Police Department at the time, Herrmann was last seen in Santa Cruz, CA, on December 3, 2023. Herrmann was reported missing by her relatives on December 12, 2023, after not hearing from her for over a week. El Cerrito investigators located her vehicle in front of the home of her boyfriend, 54-year old Theobald "Theo" Brooks Lengyel, in El Cerrito, CA.

The notification named Lengyel as a "person of interest in Alice Hermann's disappearance" and states that he had "not cooperated with the police investigation." The El Cerrito Police Department further noted that Lengyel is known to have travelled by vehicle from El Cerrito, CA to Portland, OR.

Lengyel and Hermann were previously married and had filed for divorce in 2017 after a domestic violence incident. At the time, Hermann file a restraining order against Lengyel.

Lengyel played saxophone, clarinet, and keyboards in Mr. Bungle between 1986 and 1995. Lengyel performed on all of Mr. Bungle's releases from The Raging Wrath Of The Easter Bunny in 1986 to Disco Volante in 1995.
