Do you guys remember that episode of Metalocalypse where the band gets summer colds and it completely fucks their shit up? I thought it was funny then, but now that I'm living it, I completely understand their pain. God damn summer colds, and damn them harder(?) in 107 degree heat!!! or maybe damn them faster?
Not feeling better, but at least I'm complained, and that's what the internet is for after all.
Now, to the metals…

Darkane – The Sinister Supremacy
Genre: Melodic Thrash
Origin: Helsingborg, Sweden
Label: Prosthetic
Buy now on Amazon.com
Now for something a bit more exotic from the far off land of Sweden. Darkane are one of the few bands that have come out of Sweden, that play death-ish metal, that don’t sound like In Flames. There’s a bit of thrash, some technical moments, and some catchy parts. It’s the band’s first album in five years, and will probably be worth the wait for their fans for many reasons, but the biggest will be the return of their original vocalist, Lawrence Mackrory. Hear it right here!

Huntress – Starbound Beast
Genre: Heavy Metal
Origin: Highland Park, California
Label: Napalm
Buy now on Amazon.com
Huntress are an interesting band. They feature melodic harmonized guitars, metal genre jumping progressions, and frontwoman Jill Janus’s whiskey soaked Lita Ford-esque vocals. A surprisingly strong follow-up to last year’s Spell Eater. Oh, and there's a song called "Fuck You To Death" that Lemmy co-wrote. That sound at least raise an eyebrow, right?

Olvia – Raise The Curtain
Genre: Progressive Rock
Origin: Tampa, Florida
Label: AFM Records
Buy now on Amazon.com
The former Savatage singer has apparently never considered Jon Olvia’s Pain his solo band, because Raise The Curtain is being billed as his first solo album. Perhaps the man is now pain free, feeling good, and looking to rock in only the way he can. Overall, it’s very much in Jon Olvia’s quasi-prog wheelhouse, but in a nutshell his solo band sounds like if Testament tried to play Yes songs. It’s quirky, but fun.
