PHIL ANSELMO And WARBEAST Announce Split EP

Today, we have official details on a new split EP, featuring the first of Phil Anselmo's solo material, as well as a band on his Housecore Records roster that crushes, Warbeast. The album artwork and release date for that upcoming split has been released.

Titled War of the Gargantuas, the four song split will be released on January 8, 2013 via Housecore Records. This will be the first we've heard of Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals, which features Marzi Montazeri (ex-Superjoint Ritual) on guitar, Bennett Bartley on bass, and Warbeast's José Manuel Gonzales on drums.

“This split is a glimpse into the future of both my solo project and ultimate thrash metallers Warbeast. The title of the split is War of The Gargantuas and it is fitting on many levels because of our combined love for the 60's Japanese film of the same name, the power of our combined musical output(s) and our humorous affection that plays out within each of our "Gargantuan" personalities,” states Philip Anselmo.

Not having heard Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals, the fact that José Gonzales is drumming on the album can only mean one thing: the album is going to be heavy as fuck. The two songs from Philip's solo effort will also be on his album Walk Through Exits Only, while the two Warbeast songs are exclusive to the split and feature original bassist Alan Bovee.
