Astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken are taking metal literally out of this world. According to a CNN reporter (via Blabbermouth), the duo were listening to AC/DC's "Back in Black" before the launch of the SpaceX Crew Dragon on May 30 from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The report cites CNN's John Berman, who said "We were told the astronauts listened to 'Back In Black' from AC/DC on their way to the rocket. In that vein, let's just say, for those about to launch, we salute you."
Even better, the duo have reportedly requested to be woken up after sleeping at the International Space Station with Black Sabbath's "Planet Caravan," specifically the lyrics "We sail through endless skies, stars shine like eyes."
There's something about heavy metal and space exploration. You might recall the scientist who discovered water on Mars was a metalhead. The guy who successfully landed a probe on a comet in 2014 was also a noted metalhead. Hell yea, metal science!
