Remember last year when Kurt Ballou teased us saying that Old Man Gloom was recording a new record? Then, turns out they weren't. Then, there was an easter egg promising some OMG for May of 2012. Well, since May is just around the corner, things are starting to make sense. Maybe the promise was not for a new album, but a string of Old Man Gloom tour dates? Or, could it be both? Just to get everyone to speed, Old Man Gloom is an all-star sludge/doom band featuring Aaron Turner of ISIS, Nate Newton of Converge/Doomriders, Caleb Scofield ofCave In and Santos Montano of Zozobra. Even if there is no new music, you KNOW I am going to be front and center checking the live shows out. So far only 5 shows have been announced, all on the east coast. If we hear of more, you will know about it, but here is the routing so far:
05/03 Allston, MA – Great Scott (feat. All Pigs Must Die)
05/04 Philadelphia, PA – First Unitarian Church (feat. Rosetta)
05/06 Baltimore, MD – The Ottobar
05/07 Hamden, CT – The Space
05/08 Brooklyn, NY – Europa (feat. The Austerity Program, Psychic Limb
And here's my favorite Old Man Gloom song, just for good measure:
