This week's new heavy metal releases include some doom, some death doom, some death metal, and some more!

To the metals…

Cannabis Corpse – Nug So Vile THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From NILE, NOVEMBERS DOOM, and More Out Today 11/1

Genre: Death metal
Origin: Richmond, Virginia
Label: Season Of Mist

Landphil and his smoky pals are back with their sixth album of stoner death metal. I guess it would be "stoner's death metal." Fans of of  Cryptopsy will note the nod to their album None So Vile. I can't imagine Crytopsy utilizing cartoon weed monsters in their videos though.

Dawn of Disease – Procession of GhostsTHE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From NILE, NOVEMBERS DOOM, and More Out Today 11/1

Genre: Melodic death metal
Origin: Osnabrück, Germany
Label: Napalm Records

If you've ever wondered what Amon Amarth would be like if they were a little more grim and a lot less into vikings then DoD is your band. These guys have all the melodic guitar lines you'd want from a band of their sort, but they have more blast beats than their peers. This must be due to something in the German water.

Mamiffer – The Brilliant Tabernacle THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From NILE, NOVEMBERS DOOM, and More Out Today 11/1

Genre: Experimental/post-rock
Origin: Seattle, Washington
Label: SIGE Records

Buy now from Bandcamp

Faith Coloccia and Aaron Turner are bringing all kinds of atmosphere on the couple's fifth album off post-rock bliss. This sounds like the waiting room playlist for purgatory. It's beautiful, yet oddly unnerving.

Nile – Vile Nilotic Rites THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From NILE, NOVEMBERS DOOM, and More Out Today 11/1

Genre: Death metal
Origin: Greenville, South Carolina
Label: Nuclear Blast

It's been four long years since everyone's favorite Egyptian-themed death metal band destroyed our ear-drums. This will be the first without long-time guitarist Dallas Toler-Wade, so that might feel a little odd. However, Karl Sanders is still leading the charge, and is now sharing guitar and vocal duties with Enthean's Brian Kingsland. Kingsland fits right in and even brings a little bit of freshness to the band.

Novembers Doom – Nephilim Grove THE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From NILE, NOVEMBERS DOOM, and More Out Today 11/1

Genre: Doom/Death metal
Origin: Chicago, Illinois
Label: Prophecy

Metalheads looking for something a little more chill this week should get on Nephilim Grove. They have all the monstrous growls, but have plenty of melody. Also, these guys take their time with riffs. A solid doom offering from a band nearing thirty years in the game.

Silvertomb – Edge Of ExistenceTHE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From NILE, NOVEMBERS DOOM, and More Out Today 11/1

Genre: Hard rock/doom
Origin: Brooklyn, New York
Label: Long Branch Records

Silvertomb have been around for a bit in a variety of bands, but this is their debut album as a unit. It features Johnny and Kenny from Type O Negative, their bandmate Hank from Seventh Void, Joseph from Agnostic Front, and Aaron from Empyreon. Fans of Seventh Void, like myself, will dig this a lot. And fans of Type O with still enjoy this as it'll bring back memories of the moments with Kenny shined on vocals.

Wilderun – Veil of ImaginationTHE WEEKLY INJECTION: New Releases From NILE, NOVEMBERS DOOM, and More Out Today 11/1

Genre: Symphonic progressive metal
Origin: Boston, Massachusetts
Label: Self-release

Buy now on Bandcamp

Now I'll end this week with a band you may not know about. Wilderun are prog for fans of Opeth, Enslaved, Borknagar, and Ayreon. They're as epic as they are technical, and good golly are they great on this album. Prog dogs, get on this.
