Tool and their record label have to be ecstatic about the reception to their long-awaited new album, Fear Inoculum. In its first week of release, it dethroned Taylor Swift for the #1 spot on Billboard (and other countries). Beyond that, all 10 tracks, including the weird interludes, made it to the top 25 of the Billboard Top Rock songs.
They had the third highest first-week sales behind Taylor Swift and Jonas Brothers and now they are on pace to have the eighth highest selling album (based on pure sales, no streams) overall this year, according to Chart Data.
Taylor still reigns on top of the overall best selling albums of 2019, with artists like Billie Eilish and Lady Gaga all topping Tool. Right above Tool is the soundtrack to 2018's Queen biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody, which is no surprise. Queen rules! Post Malone's new album, which features a cameo from Ozzy Osbourne and has barely been out two weeks also cracked the top 10.
Tool is seeing success everywhere, as their North American tour is sold out everywhere. However, there are tickets available here.
Most of these sales come from digital transactions. Tool did however have ultra-limited physical copies, that sold out so fast they had to run a second pressing. Copies of the album are being sold for hundreds of dollars on eBay.
