This is a really good year for Metallica. Their Worldwired tour is making boatloads of money and Forbes has taken notice. The financial magazine has released its list of the highest-paid entertainers of 2019 and it's surprising who the thrash legends rank above.
Metallica come in at #30 on the list, beating out big name pop stars like Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Travis Scott, Bruno Mars, Billy Joel, Eminem, Paul McCartney, Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande. Of course, this doesn't exactly mean that Metallica is worth more than these other artists, just that they earned more money this year.
Other celebrities out-earned by Metallica include Tiger Woods, Robert Downey Jr., Kevin Hart, Jackie Chan and basketball star Kevin Durant.
As for the qualifications for Metallica's ranking, Forbes points out that their WorldWired Tour has grossed over $250 million since 2016.
Guns N' Roses made the list at #71, earning more than $4 million per show over 29 shows during Forbes' scoring period.
The top earner for the year is Taylor Swift, followed by Kylie Jenner and Kanye West. View the entire list here.
