Swallow The Sun is nothing if not ambitious. The band released a triple album titled Songs from the North I, II & III in 2015, which was split into one death metal record, one doom and one acoustic, and it ruled way harder than it should've. Now Swallow The Sun is back with a new album titled When A Shadow Is Forced Into The Light due out on January 25, as well as a single track 14-minute EP titled Lumina Aurea for December 21. The EP will also feature guest performances from Wardruna's Einar Selvik and The Foreshadowing's Marco I. Benevento.
According to the band, "Lumina Aurea … marks the band’s darkest and most sinister piece of music the band has ever released, [while] When A Shadow Is Forced Into The Light follows a more positive approach and continues in the vein of previous albums – first-rate death-doom in the typical style of Swallow The Sun." Considering the band's success in 2015, sign me right the hell up for these releases.
Swallow The Sun will also play a few shows in Finland in February with Man-Eating Tree.
