The only time Yob made headlines in 2017 was due to the emergency surgery for diverticulitis that saved frontman and guitarist Mike Scheidt's life. Scheidt recently reported that he's been doing much better lately, and now Yob is reporting some good news as well! The band has just wrapped up recording its first album since 2014's Clearing The Path To Ascend, which Yob will release as its debut on Relapse Records this summer.
We are thrilled to announce that we have officially signed with Relapse Records and will be releasing our eighth full-length album this summer.
We have many, many albums in our collections that have been released by Relapse and have been a fan of their releases for nearly 30 years. We're honored and excited to release our new album with Relapse. We can't wait to get back at it and share this new music with our friends worldwide!
The new album is six tracks and was recorded with engineer Billy Barnett at Gung Ho Studio in Eugene, OR. The album will be mastered by Heba Kadry (The Mars Volta, Diamanda Galas, Slowdive), and we're really excited to hear what they've come up with.
