The last truly original studio album we got from The Sword was 2015's High Country. The band reimagined the album as an acoustic one and released that under the name Low Country in 2016, and then cranked out a live album called Greetings From… this year.
The Sword has now announced that it's currently holed up in Flora Recording And Playback with Tucker Martine (My Morning Jacket, Modest Mouse, etc.) recording a completely new album called Used Future. According to a press release, the album will be out in early 2018 and then band plans to wrap up recording next month.
It sounds like The Sword went into this one with a plan, huh? Album title, release date, all that! Given recording is over in November, I'd venture to guess we'll get a single mid-to-late December.
