METALLICA has launched a new website called Mission Metallica where if you sign up to be a part of the street team for the new album, they'll give you previews. I think? The site was supposed to launch today, but its been plauged by problems all weekend. They had a soft launch and then immediately took it down (presumably because Metallica doesn't know how to use the internet). Anyway, somebody who does know how to use the internet managed to snag the two trailers that were posted on the site, and dump them on Youtube.
The first trailer is just a glorified press kit about how amazing Metallica are (Apparently 5% of all rock radio airplay is Metallica songs.) It features like 20 seconds of a new song at the very end. The teaser we posted above features that same snippet with a few little extras. I'm not going to lie, I was expecting to shit all over it, but its actually very bearable. Oh yea, thats right… this is Metallica, maybe this will be something worth getting exciting over? You certainly have my attention, Rick Rubin!
