ALL THAT REMAINS Release "Halo" Lyric Video, Forgetting We Can See How Bad The Lyrics Are

Phil Labonte forgot that the downside of a lyric video is that you can actually see how dumb his lyrics are.

Phil Labonte forgot that the downside of a lyric video is that you can actually see how dumb his lyrics are.

I don't know if he's got this across enough, but All That Remains frontman Phil Labonte is a libertarian. He also enjoys stirring the pot, and on more than one occasion did we end up in a back and forth tweetstorm, most recently about he proclaimed himself an alpha.

Anyway, Labonte's band All That Remains has a new album called Madness coming out April 28, they released a "Halo" lyric video. MetalSucks calls it the sixth best metal song named "Halo." And, here's the thing about lyric videos. While almost nobody watches them (they just hit play and open a new browser window), with the lyrics front and center, it really exposes how shitty the lyrics are. Case in point for this song…

"Our lives are worlds apart, the distance makes you blind."

As of this writing, there are zero instances of distance being the cause of blindness. Even metaphorically, that doesn't make sense. And the bridge, ugh…

"So you think you know the way that I should live my life.
I know a better way, I swear I know a better way.
I'll smash your crown before I give you power to decide.
I know a better way, I swear I know a better way."

These are like edgy lyrics a 10th grader would write. I try to be unbiased when writing about music, and usually try not to let my opinion seep into articles, but these lyrics were no bueno. Here's the entire lyric video:

Amazon has a pre-order for the album for $12.62.
