THE OCEAN Recruits KATATONIA's Vocalist for Epic New Song "Jurassic | Cretaceous"

Phanerozoic II is more experimental, they said.

The Ocean has returned with the second installment of their Phanerozoic album series, Phanerozoic II: Mesozoic | Cenozoic. The album is due out September 25 and you can stream the gargantuan new single "Jurassic | Cretaceous" along with its hypnotic music video. The song features Katatonia vocalist Jonas Renkse, much like "Devonian: Nascent" from Phanerozoic I: Palaeozoic did as well.

"Phanerozoic II is more experimental, more eclectic in musical style and direction, and more varied in terms of tempos, beats, guitar work and the use of electronics," said guitarist Robin Staps. "This was an intentional choice: we wanted Part I to feel rather streamlined and to have a strong cohesion between the individual songs. We wanted to create a certain vibe to linger from the first until the last note throughout the whole record. We kept the weirder, more daring and more progressive material for Part II."

Pre-orders are available here.
