STEEL PANTHER's Edited Version Of "Death To All But Metal" Wasn't Enough To Keep Them On America's Got Talent

The general public wasn't into it.

Steel Panther recently played their 2009 track "Death To All But Metal" on America's Got Talent with some slightly altered lyrics. Turns out the powers that be won't let you say stuff like "Fuck the Goo Goo Dolls, they can suck my balls" and "They can suck each other, just because they're gay" on TV.

Despite the cleaned up lyrics, Steel Panther still got the boot from the show. Turns out the whole "hair metal joke" schtick doesn't exactly resonate in 2023 as much, huh? That or America simply won't let metal into the mainstream as anything other than the butt of a joke. Personally, I'm leaning toward the latter.

"Huge thanks to all the fans who voted for us on @agt," wrote Steel Panther after getting voted out. "It wasn't in the cards this time BUT, don't you worry…like a bad case of herpes, you can't get rid of us that easily. The battle rages on and we will NEVER stop flying the banner of Heavy Metal!"

To be fair, Steel Panther getting voted out was all the general public's doing. The judges actually dug it. Or as Simon Cowell put it, "I didn't like it; I loved it. You take yourselves seriously because you've done this for a long time and it shows, and you don't take yourselves seriously which is what I like [about you]. I know we're early on in the season. This has been my favorite live show act so far."
